Aditya Tawatia
Aditya Tawatia immigrated to Canada in 1995 and has carved a niche in Canadian Diaspora. He is an accomplished businessman and social entrepreneur who also devotes his time to social subjects. He is diligently working to strengthen the relationship between his birth country, India, and his adopted country Canada. His father, Shri Rajpal Shastri, was a teacher and Aditya’s inspiration. His father’s teachings have left an indelible mark on Aditya’s mind and soul. Aditya describes that his father’s teachings highly inspire his actions and decision.
Aditya saw that the Western world still needed to discover knowledge about India, its people, and its rich culture. He saw the need to reflect the real India to those outside India. So Aditya took the road, which was not taken yet. He took it upon himself to spread awareness about India and also to inform Indians about Canada, its people, and its culture.
In 1997, he bought and ran “The Link” a weekly English newspaper. He worked for years to make this newspaper brand a mainstream source of truthful news in the community, and Even today, this Newspaper is one of the leading ethnic Newspapers in Metro Vancouver. He serves as President of Aditya Tawatia PREC, providing real estate residential services in Lower Mainland.
Today, Aditya has become the face of the Indian Diaspora in Western Canada and is the bridge between the Federal Government of Canada and the Government of India. He has been instrumental in taking the voice of NRIs living on the west coast of Canada to The federal government of Canada in Ottawa.
Aditya has invited to the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi, which was in recognition of the work he has been doing in spreading the information about ‘Bhartiyata’ for many years. He has the vision to spread the values and principles of peace, harmony, selfless devotion towards the community, and the ethics of ‘Bhartiyata’ or ‘Indianness’ in the Western world.
Aditya believes in holistic living, and a yogic way of life is his mantra for life. He founded Yoga & Health Expo (YHE) in year 2015 to help people tap into their raw potential and adopt a yogic way of life through Veganism, meditation, and overall mental well-being. Yoga & Health Expo is a path to enlightenment through compassion for all beings and the benefits of a whole food, plant-based diet. YHE is today changing the way people view spirituality, life, themselves, one another, animals, and the environment.
Indo-Canadian relations have always been cordial without ever being in the foreground of the foreign policy of either country. Aditya Tawatia, as the President of Canada India Global Forum, British Columbia, hopes he can put this into new perspective to bring into focus the tremendous potential of this fledgling partnership.
